Every year after the holidays for the last ohhhhh.... 30 years or so, it seems that people really do not want to have their portrait taken. That's understandable, it's cold out there, most of the time, well depends on who you talk to.

Now that I do everything on location and anywhere in the world ( I can dream, can't I ? ) it is even tougher to get people to photograph. So what do I do? Well........ after working many hours a day, almost everyday for the last 3-4 months of the year, I do nothing. Or I should say I slow down compared to the past 3-4 months and get ready for the spring time because its busier than the holidays. If I just had the winter lighting and the spring, summer and fall backgrounds I would never have the time to do nothing. Because you know the saying " Idle hands make for Idle minds" or something like that. That sounds right to me. I guess I ought to Google that saying. Naw...............I,m to busy doing nothing. Well sort of.

I went out to the fairgrounds today and helped with judging the artwork entries for the Texas Extension Education Asso. Had a great meal, saw alot of beautiful art and met some really great folks.

Little League Baseball World Series

I have been watching the Little League Baseball World Series here the past few weeks and it has brought back many great memories when I played as a kid. I was a tall kid at that age (10-14) for my age and did quite well playing baseball. But then it all caught up with me and for the next 4-5 years I could barley put one foot in front of the other with running into something. Oh well I am glad I grew out of that and came out unharmed.

I played for Westbury Little League and back in 1965 I think, they went to the World Series and won it all. I missed that by one year and my Father was suppose to be the manager of that team but it did not work out for him either.

But its great watching these kids play now of days it seems that they know so much more about the game. I have enjoyed watching them.

Photography Tip

When photographing people some of the best images come when you are very close to your subject.

Close up photography is a great way to get some really great expressions of people. If you will stay close and zoom in a bit the results should be great. Remember in even lighting you will get get great detail in the face and eyes. So stay close and enjoy the beautiful images you will get.

Tracie Hester/Life Donor Walk

The 1st Annual Tracie Hester/Life Donor Walk will take place on Saturday October 4th at Austin High School. The event is being made possible by both Austin/Travis High School DECA and Fine Arts Departments and will start at 2pm.

The goal of this event is to provide continuing funding for the scholarships that bear Tracie's name and to sign people up as Life Donor's to help people that are in need of transplants.

The schools are looking for volunteers for:

* Sponsorship from local businesses
* Registration
* T-Shirts
* Food/Beverage Service
* Tents
* Balloon Release
* Participant Book
* Life Donor Table

The event is FREE to the public but donations will be ACCEPTED!

So if you would like to help please contact Meredith Watassek at Meredith.Watassek@fortbend.k12.tx.us for more information and your donations.

This event will help many people in the future that need a gift of life and a gift to make a better life. So we are hoping to see one and all, as Tracie will be looking down on us with that big beautiful smile of hers knowing we all care for her and what she believed in.

School Board

I photographed the new school board here a few weeks ago and enjoyed meeting the new members. They have a very daunting job as our school district is growing so fast that it has to be very hectic to keep up with all the changes. I wish them the best in keeping our district one of the best in the country.

This Summer

Well this summer is over and we had a great one. We didn't make it out to California but we did go to the beach some and to our bay house. We also went to New Braunfels for a few days and had a great time at the water park and river. We go every year and it is always a great trip for the kids. The river was very high as you can see here so we had to float on the smaller river in town. Its only 3 miles long but we still had fun. We have had so much rain this year that all the rivers are full. Next year we hope that we can take a longer trip down it.

My neice will be getting married soon and I thought I'd share a few images with you. She's a great young lady and she is marrying a fine young man. They are in school at Texas A&M and have not decided if they will stay or move into Houston. Everyone in both families are excited for them and are looking forward to the wedding. Well, a few months have past since I have entered anything and I thought I'd better let you know whats been going on.
I have had a very busy first quarter and its still that way. We had a great hoilday season and I hope everyone did too. We saw alot of family and friends its was just a great time.
I have gone all digital know and I am offering alot of cool things. Like hard bound books and personalized business cards. Give us a call and I can tell you more.
Here are a few images from our trip to Riudoso NM. We had a great time over spring break. It was the first spring break I have taken off in about 25 years and I am glad we did it. This summer we want to go to California and see the sites. I'll put up some images from that to.
Well so much has happened and not enough time now to tell, so till next time.

A Tribute To Kelly Suter

I photographed Kelly this summer for her Senior Portraits. I had asked her to help me with my advertising for Senior Portraits and she happily agreed. When I first meet her I knew right off we would get alot of great images from her session and as you can see we did. I had a great time taking all the images of her and I know she and her Mother had fun too. For the few short hours we spent working together, I got to know a bit about her life.

Sadly, Kelly passed away on December 27, 2006. The loss of this beautiful child is very heartbreaking to many. To her family and friends I give out my heartfelt sympathy for your loss.

To Kelly, I know I said thank you many times for all your help. But I wanted to also let you know how honored I am that I was able to work with you. I just wish I would have told you that.
